A brief introduction of linen fabric
- Jan 05, 2018 -

There are many varieties of hemp fiber, but only as a textile fiber material ramie, linen, jute and Apocynum several soft hemp fibers. The main component of hemp is cellulose, in addition to pectin, fat, lignin and so on. Its chemical composition and cotton fiber is basically the same, so hemp fiber has some similarities with cotton fiber properties, such as fear of acid, not afraid of alkali, hygroscopicity and so on. The linen should also be treated like cotton fabric when washing and ironing.

The hemp fiber is the phloem that the hemp stem stripped off, is the stem fiber of the plant fiber, the hemp phloem is made up of a lot of single phloem fibers with pectin, the main component is cellulose. Hemp fiber is characterized by: good toughness, is a stronger natural fiber. The strength and abrasion resistance of the linen fabric are higher than that of the cotton fabric, so it has good hygroscopicity and excellent water resistance. It is not easily moldy and rotten by water erosion and has fast conduction to heat and a cool feeling when worn. The reaction of hemp fiber to acid and alkali is similar to that of cotton, and it is also alkali-resistant and acid-resistant; the affinity to dye is lower than that of cotton. Because of the characteristics of hemp fiber so linen fast-resistant, Shuang cool through the cool, summer ideal for textiles.

The hemp fiber is as soft as the cotton fiber, and is inferior to the cotton fiber in the dyeing and shape retention because the cotton fiber is the plant's seed fiber and the hemp fiber is the plant's stem fiber. But also because of this, hemp toughness better than cotton, wear resistance is also stronger than cotton. People used to knit fishing nets, make ropes, is to take advantage of this feature.

Hemp has excellent corrosion resistance. Hemp fiber superior water resistance, not easy to water erosion and moldy decay, which is unmatched by cotton fiber, but also it can be used to weave nets, another reason to make ropes.
